T'was a thread here very recently on the merits of using a decent waterproof
box for a non-waterproof sat nav on a bike.
Did anybody eventually come up with a really decent one that can be mounted
and use one of the latest wide screen Nuvi's?
I'm looking for a bigger screen, (a 21" jobby on the bike would be handy but
then I wouldn't be able to see over it :) ) to sit on the trusty steed. I
have a doubt though that any of these waterproof box solution will allow use
of the touch screen whilst housed?
Once again I'd appreciate the collective knowledge and experience of the
    group.
    TIA.

I did eventually get my 1490T in the case I bought, but it was a
struggle. I left it in for a couple of days & the case has stretched a
bit so it's much easier now.

They do, the clear front of the cases is very soft. Works fine with the
one above, & also a RAM PDA case I've got. The only problem with them
is they don't have an anti-reflective coating, so the screen can be
hard to see in bright sun. You can normally move them a bit to help
with that though (which is another reason to get one that uses a RAM
ball mount rather than a fixed mount or bar straps).

I thought that was a hard case, but now that I look closer I see what you
    mean.
Ah good, then may well look at a cheap nuvi or similar in the very near
    future,.

    Taa.

Bear in mind most of the Nuvis don't have an option to output the sound
via bluetooth. Doesn't bother me as I never use the sound on a bike
    anyway.

I don't use the audio for nav on the bike. I do however use the MP3 player
    through speakers on occasions.

The first time I used my pikey old Garmin on the bike (in a clear pocket of
the tank bag) I couldn't see it 'cos of reflection and couldn't hear it 'cos
    of road noise.

    I got lost.

Couple of months back, I used my Nuvi on the bike for the first time. I
used the suction cup and stuck it to the underside of the screen, where it
sat just above the clocks. No problems with visibility, just with
    Garmin's infernal routing, as usual.
