Satisfying servicing job

    Guzzi minor service almost complete.

Valve clearances done first: hardly any adjustment needed at all; just
a slight tweak on the inlet valves. Took about an hour but a lot of
that was me faffing around polishing the rocker box protectors.

Next, went for a short trundle to warm the engine and then balanced
the throttles; barely ten minutes to do this including unpacking &
repacking the gauges. Both needles reacted fairly evenly to blips of
the throttle, so all that faffing around adjusting the throttle
butterflies that I did last service has paid off.

As the bike has been a bit thirsty of late I had the CO meter warming
up while I was balancing the throttles; I then spent about half an
hour of twiddling the little screw on the ECU. The manual says 1-2% CO
but the lowest I could get was about 2.1% after recalibrating the gas
analyzer halfway through the job: it's a fiddly bastard that drifts.
Today's still weather helped (wind also upsets the analyzer).

Next was the oil change. This took about twenty minutes including
annealing the drain plug washer and emptying the oil tray into an old
    oil can.

Finally, I checked the battery electrolyte levels and the rear brake
fluid level. The fluid's getting a little old but it'll do for this
    service.

I still have to replace the plugs (the local shop was out of stock)
and check the bevel box & gearbox oil levels, but the latter will only
take fifteen minutes or so. The rear brake master cylinder has to be
loosened to get at the gearbox oil level plug, otherwise it would be a
    five minute job.

Running somewhat leaner than before she idles OK but at very slight
throttle I did notice the odd spitback; I might tweak the mixture a
bit richer, but I'll see how it goes after I replace the plugs.

    I am a satisfied bunny.
