Saw the new blackbird replacement today

  1. In the grey colour it looked f*cking lovely. Nice factory panniers on it. Be
the perfect bike if it wasn't so f*cking expensive.

  2. What is that? The VFR1200? Or are you referring to something else?

  3. Yeah VFR1200. Lovely looking bit of kit. I thought it was a beemer from the
back. Wonder how porky it is to ride?

Just between you and me, I think the VFR1200 is a souped up VFR800
replacement, rather than replacing anything in the CBR range. I saw
one a couple of months ago. In the flesh I thought not as ugly as it
looked in pictures, but still pretty ugly IMHO, particularly around
the headlight/nose section. Yet to see one on the road. Either it's
not a big seller or I don't get out as much as I used to. I read one
forum which has a lot of members who are the types of riders who would
buy that sort of bike. Between them they own more 1400GTRs than you
could poke a stick at but not a breath about the VFR (and no, it's not
    a GTR forum).

  5. Yeah, I have yet to see one in the flesh but have yet to see a photo
that makes i look good. And I am a former Hayabusa and Blackbird
    owner.

But having owned 4 Honda V engined bikes I am intrigued.

Sat on a real one a few weeks ago and had no gear so didnt get to ride
it though I did get an offer to take it for a day. It felt about the
same size as my old sevenfiddy VFR nice slim seat , nice ergos but again
very similar to the sevenfiddy with more leg room . The side boxes are
crap ,cant get a full face helmet in either ( different capacity due to
    the fugly truck muffler.

Looks like a slab sided K1300GT Beemer thingy and getting close to the
    same price range.
I wouldnt mind comparing the twin clutch thing to the YCCS on the FJR .
If I get a day to take the one out at Mornington Honda I will post my
    thoughts.

Pick up an FJR for much less including the top box with real size side
bags YCCS . Yeah I know its closer to the touring end of sport touring
but not much heavier . I love mine and in the real world

  8. I thought it was awful in photos but in the plastic it is quite nice. The
headlight is an acquired taste but I think hayabusas look good so who am I to
    judge.

Eyeabuser is a fugly abomination in any colour ,,,,, the newer models
seem more squat and fattter then the originals , maybe its just the
    paint job shrug.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder i must admit.

  12. Exactly

What on earth made them release the bike in that bronze colour scheme
is beyond me. Suzuki have always had a penchant for pushing the limit.
The Katana is another example. So many people thought it ugly rather
than progressive. It was designed originally to be a BMW but strangely
:)-) enough BMW didn't take it on board.

I had a blue and silver Busa and it was a sweet looking thing in 90%
of its perspective (front on was still not real pretty).

I will still reserve my judgment til I sees a VFR1200 in the flesh. I
have to admit the idea of a current tech 1200cc Honda V4 in a good
    frame does interest me.

  13. See I am wierd. I love the copper/silver Hayabusa and think it is one of the
    best looking bikes ever made.

Oddly enough after starting this thread I sold my V-Strom making me bikeless.
After 5 days of being a grumpy bikeless bastard I went out and bought an 02 VFR
    800. I absolutely love it. Light enough to be sporty and comfy enough for
long distances. People pan the vtec but I don't have a problem with it at all.
Gives you a nice torquey bottom end but lets it scream past 7k. Also nice and
narrow for lane filtering. I couldn't be happier.

  14. VTec is great. Try taking a Honda NSX for a drive one day ... It's a
large go-kart that goes like a cut cat from a 3 litre engine. And the
sound as the VTec valves open is soooooo sweet.

    Nev...

you are now a Strom owner, as a Strom owner, or a previous Strom owner
like my self. Owning a Strom makes your opinion on the looks of a bike
    null and void..

seriously, how could anyone with any taste in looks of motorcycles own
    a bike like a VStrom?

Best thing about a strom is you can't see how ugly it is while riding it. : )

Some one asked me if Suzuki have to supply three paper bags to look at a wee
strom (in case the first one or two broke).

Still love it to bits though - fugly but a really easy nice bike to ride on
a wide variety of surfaces, including that shifting sea of gravel BTH is
    pleased to call a 'road'.

    Best, Andrew.
