Saw the old duck the other day

Well, a year after our beloved ST2 was taken by a thief in the night, I
finally saw her again late last week.

Returning from our 6 week jaunt through Asia, we were greeted by a couple of
urgent messages from Fairfield detectives saying that my Ducati had turned
up in a raid sometime late in Sep. I was asked to go to the station to make
a statement which would then be used against the guy who was in possession
of it - currently behind bars on drug dealing (and worse) charges.

I made a statement which effectively spelled out that a. I owned the bike,
    b. parked it at 10pm the night before it was stolen, c. it was stolen and d.
I didn't give the thief permission to take it. It took the police about 1.5
hours to type up this revelation - I almost sent them the bill for my time
plus the 2 hours of travel involved... :) Actually they were pretty cool,
just that it could have been done in 5 minutes.

Anyway, I asked to see the bike and they took me out to the compound where
she sat looking bloody miserable - was pristine when I last saw her. Poor
thing had been dropped on both sides, keylock smashed and I went to fire her
up - but nothing. Sad state. The drug dealer had been using it as his
bike, which was pretty stupid IMHO. A Duck with no baffles are probably not
    the way to stay inconspicuous.

She's now the property of the insurer and frankly, I'd never want it back
with 4,000 rough kms + multiple drops. I may be required to appear in court
to state what I'd already written when this character goes to trial -
uuhhh?? Whatever - if I can help put some bike stealing drug dealing %$#%
    behind bars then I'm there.

Anyway, lock up your daughters and make sure your bikes are safe -
    preferably in the loungeroom...

    Cheers,
