"Schwabenleder" made-to-measure leathers

Just bought a new 2-piece from a German manufacturer, who seem to be a
top-quality manufacturer, with a full tailor-made service available.
Not surprisingly, I'd never heard of them, but they seem to win many
    magazine tests and stuff.

Now I know they don't have any UK dealers, so won't be of much use to
a lot of you guys, but I thought I'd post a URL anyway. The website
also includes an online self-design gismo, which can produce results
of which even Gavsta would be proud.
    http://www.schwabenleder.de/index.cgi?z=20050629-5574035-0329450335&a=modelle&b=start

As it happens I bought a suit off-the-peg, as it's pretty much exactly
the right fit, looks cool, and I didn't want to wait 8-10 weeks for it
to be made. Having looked at various manufacturers in the last week or
so, I have to say that both the overall quality and the protection
offerred is streets above anything the major brands seem to offer.
    It's this model
    http://www.schwabenleder.de/index.c...=modelle&b=modell&c=intro&d=AeroSupertecSport
but in a mainly black, some grey design. Dead pleased wi'it, I am.

The pictures make it look like they make leathers for Man at C&A.
And the model looks *so* camp...still, as long as you're happy...

Is the leather on the front as pliable as it looks, or has it just been
softened by the cum dribbling off his chin?

He can't help it - he's German after all. but yes, very soft, but
    thick, leather all over.

I'm most impressed with the protection (I hesitate to call it
'armour') which is foam-based but _very_ solid, and a good inch thick
down the spine. Its impact-absortion seems to be most excellent.

Of course, we'll have to wait until Paul Varathingy comes along to
know if they're really any good ;-)

You mean this bit "Sieger im MOTORRAD-Test unter 14 bekannten
Markencombis, davon 8 in der Preisklasse über 1.000 Euro. Maximale
Sicherheitsausstattung, kompletter Rundumschutz, perfekter Schnitt und
zeitlose Eleganz. In optimaler Passform als Stangen-, Maßkonfektion-
oder Vollmaßkombi. " ? I suggest you brush up on your German a bit :)
It says it was the winner in the over (über) 1000 Eu cataegory.

The one I got was listed at 1235[1]. I guess a made-to measure _could_
work out cheaper if you left out some of the 'optional' protection,
but I doubt if many people would do so.

[1] I managed to haggle a bit, plus I'll get the VAT back (importing
it into Switerland, honest, mein herr) so I got it for a thousand
    dead.

It's no good. Even wearing the leathers, I'm afraid I still don't
understand the dialect. Monkeys and horses? Err, whoooosh?

They're the cartoon characters German TV (forget which channel)

  11. I make that, "Winner in MOTORRAD Magazine test of 14 well-known
brand-name suits, of which 8 cost over 1,000 Euro."

Google sez: "Winners in the motorcycle test under 14 admitted of 8
in the preisklasse over 1.000 euro Markencombis, of it." Funnily enough,
    so does Babelfish...
That sounds reasonable, on a Swiss salary. :)

    Yeah, I got that much.
I'm sure it's jolly amusing though.
Ahh, well of course, I watch absolutely tons of German TV, how well I
speak the language and how I can't get any UK stuff via the satellite
dish and Sky box setup at home in France.

I know someone who has a set of these
They look well made and should do the job
Only thing that let his down was the quality of the zips
Of course that may have changed now

They're very chunky metal zips, so look about as sturdy as they come.

Ace, when you say 'haggle', was it along the lines of "Look Wolfgang, knock
a tidy few quid off, an' I'll pimp yer gear on the biggest fuckin .ng in the
UK. An' I carry a bit 'a clout there old son". ?
Reason I ask is, you *do* sound like their head of sales ;-)
