Scooter hire in Nice

Went to the local hire shops yesterday to enquire about a scooter for a
day or two. The hire price itself is not an issue, but the €2000 damage
    excess is shocking.

I asked what was classed as "damage" and its anything including a
    scratch on the bodywork.

Has anyone seen a bike in the SOF, all of them have been down the road
at some point - the French seem to have a complete disregard for their
transport, everything is either scratched, dented or missing, and this
    is on quite new vehicles.

I have decided that walking is good enough for anyone!

Just draw their attention to any damage and take lots of pics (camerafone)
    before you ride off.

This saved us mucho Euro last time we hired a car in Faro.

  3. Saved me hassle in Toulouse, once. Every corner of the car was dinged
and the mirror trim was absent, but surprisingly, nothing was marked on
    the hire sheet.

    I hired a car to do a round-trip Seattle-Vancouver. On returning the
car there was a moment when the employee was going to start pointing
out things. She stopped when I drew her attention to the all
eventualaties insurance I had arranged, it was the best $20 ever
spent. I had originally collected an almost new car and put the best
part of 6,000 miles on it in 2 weeks.
