I've noticed the amount of scoots on the road have increased these last few
months. It think it's great that more people are using them, but I sure wish
they'd have a bit more respect for faster vehicles. A few times I've had
these guys lanes split and sit in front of me at the lights thereby trapping
    me in the congestion.
I spent a few years on various scooters and always gave way to
bigger/faster. Even now on the CBR600 if I come up to an R1 or similar I'll
give them space. It seems that the new breed of Euro scooter wannabes don't
    appreciate the rules...

Yeah, well... I like to park my bicycle in front of CBR600s at the front
of the traffic queue. Such is life.

Do you give way to cars which can accelerate faster than you.. or do you
    slow them down too?

    I don't do either.
I neither get out of their way nor get in their way.
I just mind my own business (and the road rules that apply to me).

    You poor wee soul.
    Well, aren't you a sweetie.

Incidently, how do you decide what's bigger, what's faster, and which
    you might give space to?
Eh? If you come up on them, you give them space? Doesn't make sense.
Which particular rules have you in mind?

    regards,

There's a rule about giving respect or way to faster vehicles?

Sport bikes 600cc or greater. (I thought that was obvious)
If I see say an R1 at the lights, I don't lane split past him and sit in
front of him block his path. I'll sit behind or beside givng him clear space
to hotdog it out of there if he so chooses.

    Being courteous for a start.
