Scooter problems

    Hello.

    I just bought a

    "VOMOTO MILAN" scooter

    off EBAY for $1,200.

I know nothing about scooters, and expected them to "just be easy".
Obviously, I should have done a bit more research into this brand and
    model.

I am having a serious problem with it. I did not discover this
problem until after I gave my money away.

    * EVERY* time I go full-throttle at about 50k's an hour for about 5
minutes or more, and then Stop at the lights, the engine STALLS and
    STOPS.

I literally have to get off road and get off the scooter.

One time out of the 5 times it as stopped, I was able to "kick start"
    it.

The other 4 times it stopped, however, I am not able to start it *AT
ALL*. I have to leave it overnight and come back the next day, where
    it then starts correctly.

    Specific example:

Two days ago, I started at the Fish Markets, Pyrmont and then went
over the Anzac Bridge. At the Balmain traffic lights at the end of
the Anzac Bridge, the engine STALLED and STOPPED. I had to get off
the bike, and try to start it to no avail in the bicycle lane!

I could not get it started and had to leave it there overnight.

I came today, got it started but the same thing happened again when I
went down Parramatta Road. It stalled and stopped at the traffic
lights opposite the Annandale Hotel, and I had to leave my bike there
as I could not get it started again.

The petrol tank is *FULL* of Unleaded petrol, and the 2 stroke
cannister is *FULL* of 2 stroke oil.

WHY is it stalling and stopping like this?

and WHY can't I just "kick start" it?

    How do I fix it?

One thing it might be is the choke.

does it have an automatic choke? If so, and it is stuck on, then the
bike will run horribly - smoking and unwilling to rev - and stop and
    be hard to start.

I don't know how the auto choke on your scooter works, but cleaning
the carb and making sure all cables are clean and move freely can't
    hurt.

It could be the opposite problem - not enough fuel. An airlock in
the petrol feed. Replace one of the petrol lines with a clear one and
    eyeball the fuel supply.

A trick with twoeys that are hard to start is to replace the plug.
Carry spares and if it won't start quickly then swap to a clean plug.

  3. Definitely sounds like a fuel problem. I suggest selling it and buying
    a motor bike. ; )

Could be the fuel tank vent. Possibly in the cap.
When it stops remove the cap and replace. If you get another 5 minutes then
    clear the breather or vent.
A bike mechanic will do it in minutes.

I'd suggest plug to start with. They have a vaccuum operated fuel
    tap.
$1200? Wow. I'd sell you ours for a lot less than that. 3000 kms on
the meter and runs great.(but slowly). We even have a broken one for
    spares.
