    Hi all.

I use a Speedfight 100 to get to and from work, hopefully taking my direct
access next spring in time to have a 'proper' bike by summer.

Never had any problems with the bike except it being a little sluggish for a
while when its cold.. However, yesterday morning it wouldn't start. The
electric start fired but just wouldn't do enough to start the engine. I
tried the kickstart which basically did the same, almost started but not
quite. It also backfired a couple of times. When it did eventually start it
only lasted a minute or so before it died again. The weather at this time
    was very foggy and wet.

I tried the bike today and the same thing is happening.

Does anyone have any ideas what's wrong and how I can fix it as I really
don't want to have to get the bus to work. Is there something mechanical
wrong or is this just what happened to scooters in this weather?

Any advice would be very welcome
    Paul

When did you last have it serviced ?
Scooters often suffer from carbon build up in the exhaust,
which would fit with the power loss you were describing.

I bought it about 7 months ago and haven't had it serviced yet.. You reckon
doing it then? How much is a typical service?

Sounds like the electrics have got damp. Possibly the plug cap, lead or
    coil.

Try WD40'ing wires, etc, which should remove possibility of a damp
    problem.

First thing I always check is the plug! I bet its black.

I'd pay close attention to the air filter.
You will probably find its clogged to shite.

    <shame>

I used to have one of these, and it ate plugs, cos they're only a couple of
quid, just change it every 3 months. New plug will sort it.
