This company provides a good source for some of the hard to
find accessories that Harley and Metric cruiser riders look for..
The belt conversion kit which was installed on my Green Vulcan
last year (did I mention that before) has been the only thing that
I've bought from these people, so far.. but, after visiting their site,
you can be sure I'll be doing some more business with them..

During my last run, deep into Mexico.. I encountered some cond-
itions which would have been out of the ordinary and hazardous
to most any of us who ride.. I ran into about 50 miles of road con-
struction, high in the mountains.. Something like 25 miles of pave-
ment had been excavated and replaced with a lightweight pea-
gravel which was more than 3 inches deep in places.. There were
no alternate escape routes to take.. You can be sure, that damned
gravel was being flung at me from all directions, in spite of the slow
speeds by the traffic.. It took almost two hours to of fishtailing and
creeping along in first and second gear, to get out of that mess..

During the next top off, I checked the belt drive and could see the
rear pulley had really been chewed up by the material that was
picked up by the belt.. Due to the isolation in that area, there was
no choice but to continue the ride to Guadalajara.. The belt finally
gave up, just as I got into the city and the Green One was done..

The local Kawasaki dealer had never seen the belt drive set up
on my rig and his response to the problem would to convert it
back to the chain and sprocket drive.. For the sake of expediency,
I agreed, and was then informed that it would take a month or more
to get the parts from Monterrey, where the main distributor is in
Mexico. Of course, the Harley dealer in Guadalajara couldn't help
with metric parts and accesorries, either.. even though one of the
mechanics there offered to help if he could..

I called Scootworks that Friday afternoon and those people went
into high gear after I explained my predicament to them.. Even
though, they didn't have the chromed parts in stock, they went into
action and an alternate painted part, along with a new belt was
Fed-Exed that afternoon.. The parts arrived in Guadalajara on
Saturday, cleared Customs and were in my hands on Monday
morning.. Within two hours, the Green Vulcan was up and running..
Those good folks in Mexico were amazed and I was a happy
camper/biker.. whew.. Relief was a mild description..

I was informed by the Customer Service people at Scootworks..
that they'd finally gotten the chromed pulley's back from their
plating shop and the front drive pulley, as well as the chromed
rear pulley with another new belt would be delivered to me on
this coming Tuesday.. Many thanks to Amy and Joyce, as well
as the owner of Scootworks who'd gotten involved in rescuing
me out of Mexico.. They made that their first priority and still
continue to stand behind the product, without reservation or
question.. Regardless of fault or responsibility.. they sure bail-
ed me out of a bad situation.

Scootworks site is at www.scootworks.com .. Take a look and
if you see something you like, don't hesitate to place an order..
They accommodate Harley and Metric cruisers and have a
pretty good selection of those hard to find accessories that you
may be looking for.. From my own experience with them, the
    service department can't be beat..

I is good to hear about a company that stands behind their products. It is
especially good that they went above and beyond to help you when you were
    stranded in Mexico. Stellar.

They sure bailed me out down there, alright.. The folks in Mexico are used
to long waits for parts and accessories and accept that as a way of life..
They couldn't believe it when I walked in there that Monday with those parts
    to get my bike going..

Catalog buying and ordering stuff over the internet hasn't ever appealed to
me.. The personal contact with the fine folks at Scootworks has caused me
to re-evaluate my attitude, because I'm sure that in spite of some of the
bad stuff I've heard about from others, Scootworks are certainly not the
only ones out there that stand behind their products, that way.. hmmmm..
It just occurred to me that I better be cautious.. <chuckle> The next time
I order something, I may get burned, real bad..

The rear pully was chewed up so bad that it wasn't a good idea to put
a new belt on.. Scootworks sent me a new pulley along with the new
    belt..
Based on my experience with them on this deal, I can't say enough good
things about them.. They got me out of a bad situation in Mexico.. Since
I've been back, they have continued to stand behind their product with no
questions asked.. One of the ladies I have dealt with, there are two of them
told me that the owner of Scootworks has gotten involved and his response
to the situation was to instruct his people to go to whatever lengths
    necess-
ary to resolve the problem and make sure the customer is happy.. That has
included an offer to assume a portion of the labor costs..

Even though I wasn't happy about the inconvenience of the breakdown, I
was pleasantly surprised with their response.. You just don't run into that
kind of reaction very often, anymore..

Maybe they'll be expanding their product lines to include accessories for
Harley Davidson.. My impression is that they are a fairly new company
    and growing fast..

Your problem of the drive belt and/or the drive pulley being damaged by
rocks mirrors the same problem several of my H-D riding friends have
experienced. I suppose that is just an inherent design flaw in a system that
solved many other drive train problems. Then again, nothing is perfect or so
    it seems.
I checked Scootworks for something I could use for the Wing but no shiny
    chrome driveshafts were listed. <d-g-rlh>

Glad it all worked out well for you.. cYa

I'd also heard about the consequences of a rock getting caught in the belt
pulley drives.. Riding with so many Harley riders, I'd never known anyone
who had experienced a breakdown because of it.. <chuckle> Now, I have
my own personal experience to rely on.. Based on this, hopefully I know a
bit more about how to guard against a repeat performance..
They do seem to cater mostly to the cruiser type motorcycles.. Being an old
Wing rider, myself.. there might be a possibility that you'll be taking
    another
look at these lighter weight cruisers in the future.. lol.. It hasn't been
    all that
many years ago, that I'd never have considered riding anything other than
    the
touring type dressers.. I still get that feeling of nostalgia whenever I
    ride with
one of those well detailed showboats..

Thanks, you can be sure that I extend a world of thanks for all the help and
well wishes.. Without those good bikers that rushed to my rescue, there
    could
have been some serious consequences.. The good folks at Scootworks sure
made things a lot easier by standing by their products, also.. this could
    have
been a very expensive experience, without their help..
