Indeed it was, I staggered to the top of Primrose Hill on my run this
evening at about 9:30 and the view/sunset combo was fantastic.

 

I don't set an alarm, but unfortunately Londonland makes me up around
3:45am at the moment.

The RT's ambient temp gauge peaked at 39.5 C and didn't drop below 37.5
C, on my journey home from BSi.

Still 10 C shy of what I've endured in Pakistan.

 

it's not a london thing as much as a latitude thing. Bloody birds wake
up at the first crack of sunlight and start making a racket.

 

That was something I noticed yesterday: no birds (of the feathered kind),
earily quiet.

Try standing on a steel deck (in leather-soled shoes) in full sun at
55degC ambient for six hours going up the Shatt al Arab.

Jeez, the very thought makes my toes curl up. I don't like to think
what the deck temperature must have been, but frying eggs would have
been a doddle.

Both apply to a point. The sun rises in Plymouth around 20 minutes
later than it does in London (this time of year). Where as up North, it's
actually 15 minutes earlier (depending on how far North).

Take a bottle of water. Must be cheaper than getting a whole or even half
of something.

 

Scott Mills[1] apparently tried that the other day on a metal table
outside the pub. Nothing happened and the egg just dribbled off the
table.
