Does anyone know what the difference between Scottoiler MK7 and the new
V System is? It is worth an extra 5 quid?

  5. 'Hog was thinking very hard :
Or pay less and have your boots blathered in oil.

Only if you're a complete fuckwit who can't (or won't) read the rather
comprehensive instructions, and is too dumb to call Scottoiler and ask
    for help.

The Scottoilers I've had never did that. They were great things -
especially on my GS550 and GS750, made a real difference to chain life
    without any mess.

My Scottoiler has worked perfectly for 5 years now.

Even my tame service dealer commented at my last service that the chain
will (probably) need replacement at the next service (after 30k miles
with the same chain) and noted that there are no flat spots on the
    chain.

    Fantastic investment IMV.

I'd go with that. I know a couple of people who had their chains snap after
30-40k of running with a Scottoiler. Both were lucky as the chain simply
ran off the sprockets into the road rather than clattering with the
crancase. The sudden loss of power was a bit of a shock, mind.
I thought so, in the olden days before the enlightenment.

That was the assumption. Both bikes were on their OE chain and had a
Scottoiler fitted when new. One was certainly a CB1000 "Big One" and IIRC
    the other was a VFR750.

  11. Obviously, the sensible time to change a well-used, Scottoilered chain on a
VFR is just before the other side-plate gives way.
