Sealing hoses.

I think it's when it gets hot AND pressurised.

It's the hose coming from the coolant pump to the radiator.
It's not *leaking* because the coolant header tank is still jolly full
of fluid and the bike's not on fire, I can only assume the fluid is IN
the engine. It must be to leak out of the pipe.

It's leaking just enough from the seating of the tube onto the pump to
spatter my right boot and lift the bloody surface from the engine casing.

Is there anything particularly useful I could do to try and seal it
properly other than cranking the jubilee clip till it strips a thread?

What did I NOT do when I last attached the hose that I should have?

I'd remove the hose, throw away the old jubilee clip and when
re-fitting the hose, first clean the stub that the hose goes over,
then wrap a few times around with PTFE tape ... about 50p from
DIY/Plumbing shops. Then get a decent new jubilee clip and re-tighten,
    but not too much.

We found (On a Landrover) a similar problem where the clip felt tight
when done up, but that it must have been undone and done up so often
that the thread _just_ in that part was shagged, so it kept loosening
off a tad, hence leaky, leaky.

We also found that tightening the jubilee clip too much was not a good
thing, it bit into the hoses a little and eventually cut through them.
