A blue Honda CL-350, chrome front fender, 1260 miles on the odometer.
Brought back memories, and I was surprised at how much smaller it was than
the bikes I'm now used to. No wonder I didn't think twice about putting it
    on its centerstand.

    bikes I'm now used to.

I remember how those small Japanese vertical twins would cruise on the
    freeways
at 6000 RPM in 4th gear when I was only going 60 mph....

    Buzzy little buggers, they were...[/QUOTE]

    And tons of fun too.

I remember taking mine from Pacifica to Medford, back when Motel 6 was
really $6. Took me about 45 minutes before I could feel my ass again after
    checking in.

Not sure whether I mourn the passing of the person I was or the machine I
rode, but it was an excellent pairing.

I bought one back in '71 after riding my buddies. I didn't like them
initially, preferring yammy RD5's or Kawy Avengers. But, my buddy pulled
his stock exhausts and air filters, put on drag pipes and velocity stacks,
and changed the stock bars for flat clubman bars. Damned if that little
sucker didn't scream. You could hear it 5 blocks away, but it really
breathed and pulled like a freight train from 7-9Krpm. I never did that to
mine, and eventually sold it when the cam facing went away (a defect in that
year). At one time I think Sacramento had more of those bikes per capita
    than any place on Earth.

    heh heh....

I'm not sure how one holds a honda 350 to 4000rpm! All the stock 350's I rode
would jump to about a thousand rmp above redline (10.5k) faster than I could
change gears. Once you hit about 6k, it's already too late and the needle was
bouncing off the front brake handle! ;)
