As the Convert was only ever built as a 1000 (hint: that's why it's
called the V1000 Convert) I'd love to know how a mechanic managed to
    increase its capacity from 850cc.

If it is the slushbox, then your price is a joke. Nobody's going to
    want a 2-speed semi-automatic cafe racer.

If it's got the proper five-speed gearbox, then your description is a
joke. If it was an 850 originally, what the hell model was it?

Either way, and bearing in mind your stupidly optimistic BIN price, I
    wouldn't touch it with yours.

If it's a 1980 model, then it's not a Convert - Guzzi gave up on the
slushbox and replaced it with a 5-speed from 1978 to about 1984. This was
the G5, and I'd guess that's what we could be looking at. With a Le
Mans-style tank, Convert sidepanels and the seat off a 750 S3.

Or it could be a plain old T3 in drag, with absolutely nothing done to the
    engine at all.
The guy probably knows jack about Guzzis, and is repeating the line of
bullshit he was sold with the bike.
