So the Sprint ST is about to go on eBay.

Having never sold (or bought for that matter) a bike on eBay, are there
any tips from the "old hands" that might ensure that I get people
interested and hopefully a decent price?

I've seen some auctions that look gash, but just because I don't like
them, doesn't meant they don't work.

    Cheers.

Just be truthful as you can, describe the bad bits along with the good,
and take loads of nice big pictures.

You can stick pictures on photobucket or similar rather than paying ebay
    to host them.

Consider a no reserve auction starting at 99p. This sounds a bit scary
but at this time of year it will reach its market value if you describe
    it right.

Don't listen to any cash offers to end the auction early, and the people
who ask silly questions and quibble aren't really worth bothering with.

Scratch that, doesn't apply to vehicles.

  5. Pix. Lots of pix. Big pix. Host them yourself and put the links in the
auction description. Reckon on half a dozen pix as a minimum - good
side-on and three-quarter shots, plus details. Close-ups of any defects,
    scratches, faults.

As good a description as you can make. Mention the paperwork. Your age
(mature owner!). How long you've had it. What you've used it for. I
usually put in something to the effect that there will be no p/ex, no
early settlement 'for cash' and that the auction will run to its end.
Doesn't stop some people making silly offers, of course.

Mention every single fault or defect, no matter how small. Otherwise
people will use them to chip you down or back out entirely, and in some
cases you can't blame them. For example, my GN250 was described as all
good, etc etc, and the exhaust was blowing from several holes as it was
utterly rotten. The vendor didn't know any better, but that was her
problem. I got £100 off because such a fault should be flagged up.

I don't use reserve prices. For a start, you get pestered by people
asking what it is. If it matters to you, use a start price of £x
instead. But, generally, it'll sell for what it's worth.

Set it to time out on Sunday evening at about 7.30pm, which is when most
people are at home and can be on line. Having it time-out at 2.15pm
mid-week is a recipe for a low ending price.

  7. Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, The Older
In fairness, Chris is pretty old. But to describe him as "mature" is a
    bit of a stretch.

How old do you have to be to be considered as "mature" as i am 53 and
her indoors thinks i am just a big kid.
