The missus hasn't been out on her 2000 Divvy 600 for three years & it's time to face facts and sell it.

It's currently without MOT and I can't really be bothered to get it MOTd. In fact I can't really even be bothered to clean them. :) (Work is mayhem at the moment and my weekends always seem full to overflowing.)

All other things being equal, will trying to flog without MOT result in a pitiful price or no sale of will it still go for reasonable cash? (Personally I'd never buy a used bike without plenty of MOT and I've always assumed most other people would feel the same.)

I've also got a 2002 B12 with no current MOT that I really ought to sell. But will probably end up keeping. :) I did consider calling a bike shop andseeing if they'd take both without me having to do anything, albeit at rock bottom price.

If I can save the bother of MOTing them both I don't mind selling cheap, but I don't want to take too much of a hit.

Also where's a good place to sell bikes right now? I thinking eBay but I can put an ad free in Real Classic. Anywhere else worth considering?

    TIA.

  3. pitiful price

    Yes
    You've answered your own question.
MCN. I don't think people looking for a B12 or a 600 Divvie will be
scouring the ads in Real Classic.

Easier in Spain: No ITV (MOT) no way to sell a vehicle.

Only a total eejit would try to sell it without an MOT, you will get
scrap for spares prices if it cannot be ridden away.
The battery will be fucked, the carbs shitted up and the fuel will be stale.
I'll give you a whole packet of Werthers.
I'll take it away for free when I collect the Divvy.

I recently sold an 89 ZXR750 for 650 quid ish without an MOT.

    Yet again you're wrong.

  7. Not so sure - a good one wiv an MoT would make into four figures, easy.

That said, £650 isn't scrap prices so as you were.

With 40k on the clock, needing forks rebuilt, disks and pads I think
that doing the work would have taken the best part of day and added
maybe 2-300 quid to the price. Assuming I got cheap parts that's
about 120 quid so for the money involved I think I was better off
    selling as it was.

Buyer doesn't intend to use it. He's storing it because he figures it
will go up in price. I think he's right.

    I had a green/blu/white one for a while (H1). Immaculate it was.
Everything about it was fantastic, until you went over a bump.

    No, Green/Blue/White.

I only thought there were two colours with the H1. Green Blue White
    and Red Black Silver.

I've had both. The Green one was faster.

  12. <considers> what little I know of the types who ride B12s and/or a divvi.

I am not sure there are words enough to describe how much I disagree with
    this.

Naturally I have to disagree that green Kawasakis are faster. I put
this down to the fact that I've only ever owned one green one, and it
    was a sack of shit.

I've had two, both green, both faster than their predecessors.

    That's science.

  15. Heh. I have never, ever, ever ridden a bike as over-suspended as a
    ZXR750. Except possibly a ZXR400.

150 quid less than I paid for it five years ago.

I hadn't ridden it for 2 years so I was happy enough with that really.

Oh come on, you could turn one of your numerous reception rooms into
bike storage & still have enough space for several parties!

I dunno, what's the point of having three homes anyway?
