They decided to just put it in a sling. Review it in a week when I go
back to get the thumb checked and a new plaster put on.

Not looking forward to the arse wipe thing. Hopefully I can hold it
in and do a dump at my friends house who has a bidet.

Don't think I'll be back at work for a while if today is any
indication of how fucking annoying it is to have someone do just
about everything.for you. Tried to do a little yesterday like put on
socks but was sure I felt the thumb jump a bit in the cast.

as per my post the other day, I can highly recommend *not* falling out
of bed two weeks from now, whilst shagging some bird, and landing on
the bad shoulder. I mean, by all means try and shag some bird, but
don't do the "falling out of bed" bit.
just shit in the shower, and be done with it.

Heh, now that's a thought. You've just reminded me I need some
plastic bags and tape to keep the plastered hand dry.

I've got one more week of having to do that then the pins come out.
Even though I've had it done before I'm still not looking forward to
the pins being pulled out with a pair of pliers. No fucking local,
just sit there and feel sick.

It doesn't hurt. Well, mine didn't, came out quite easily. After
sitting in the waiting room for about 3 hours. I was like, "I could
have done that myself, saved myself a morning." Droid with pliers:
    "Mumble."

If you want to save the pins to stick on your keyring or whatever,
take a little box with you and claim them on the spot, otherwise
they'll just dump them in the sharps bin.

    I'm certainly claiming them.

I tried turning one a bit last week when I took the dressing off and
it seemed a bit reluctant to move so I stopped rather than do any
damage. I'd take them out myself and go to see the surgeon and just
tell him they fell out but he already suspects I'm a not the sharpest
knife when it comes to self preservation (1) and I'd hate to prove him
    right.

    (1) When I went in for the op he asked if I'd ridden there on the bike
and was going to put my hand in plaster until I assured him I wouldn't
go on a bike until the pins were out. I lied.

When I had mine, they bent the ends round into little loops. I had a
vague plan to fit them with bells, but nothing came of that.

The ends on mine are hooked over into a 'U' shape which would act like
a fish hook if I didn't have them covered and was stupid enough to put
    my hand into my pocket.

Originally they were supposed to go in one side, through the joint and
out the other side but the surgeon decided to stop short of breaking
through when he put them in. I suppose this is better because it
halves the number of holes in the finger and it should heal up better.

I'm not impressed by the state of the finger because it looks a mess
and I reckon I'll still struggle to get bike gloves on and it'll be
off inside a couple of years. Maybe frost bite is the answer and I
should just let it get nipped then eventually drop off?

Heh, when you start to go over the sequence of events it's surprising
the number of things that led to it. Karma is a bitch.

Car was in the garage with a loose crank shaft. I was visiting a
friend were parking restrictions started 8:30 in the morning.
Normally I'd buy a ticket and have an extra hour in bed but because
it was raining I decided just to go to work. There was no need to
filter because I was early but when confronted with a queue of static
traffic and you're on a bike it'd be rude not to. Obviously my normal
hyper paranoia on the bike was low that morning as I'd had one of the
best nights sex I'd ever had and felt pretty relaxed.

My ex-wife turned up at the hospital at the same time as my new
girlfriend. New girlfriend is now ex girlfriend as she decided that
she really did not want to have to deal with my outstanding
separation agreement and divorce issues :-(
