I've got to go back on the 18th Jan but it'll not be that much of a
blow because 10 days later I go on holiday again.
    Same to you.

That's one of the reasons I left the small software and services
company I worked for 10 years ago. I'd have probably been on a
fuckload more money but I was rarely anywhere remotely near home
    monday to friday.

  7. Hmm, I didn't get _any_ veg. A frozen chook breast, a rolled roast,
and a frozen pizza to go with the box of duck rolls I already had. And
enough booze that _might_ last until Sunday, but I think a few local shops
might be open if there's a Saturday emergency[1].

[1] WTF? Tesco is shut on Saturday as well as tomorrow, but Argos are open
    both days!

It didn't take me long to inspect Sainsbury's booze shelves and leave
    without buying anything.

Its a main size store, their special offers were somewhat lacking.

What's the point in only buying special offers?

I buy the products I like, and if they cost a quid or so more than
what's on special I know I'll enjoy them at least enough to justify
    that difference.

Rubbish. I might've gone bisexual rather than gay after the experiment, if
    it did.

Needs perking up with some vodka and lime juice, mind.

Became senior enough in the company that I get made project lead on
    important stuff.
It's not wholly confirmed yet, but I'll let you know. On the one hand
I hope it falls through because I don't really want to only be seeing
my son for 2 days a week for 7 months, but on the other hand, it's a
shit load of money for the company and we'd do well to keep up the
current success. And it's brownie points for me to be project lead.

Well, if I did the same job I do now for your lot, I'd be spending
more time away and on worse T&C. That's why we employ more people
doing this stuff than IBM EMEA.

I'll make a decision at some point whether I can continue the
consultancy. To be honest, I haven't done too badly on the working
away front over the last few years. Longest stint in a year has been
three months and then I've been back on local based projects.
