I can't remember which one I got a ride of, but it really had me worried
when, before starting out into the traffic, I gave the throttle a wee
blip, and the thing felt like it wanted to throw itself sideways at the
    ground. =:-O

Once I got going, it felt fine, tho.
Aye, and they probably charged like wounded bulls for the one that was
    mostly holes...... :-|

Well, suppose you get a bike free. It will still cost you $300 for
rego and $100 for TPI. That's $8 a week, or 160 kms, before you even
start to save any money. Tyres for my bike cost me another $0.033 per
km as against $.01 for the car. The actual break even point for a free
bike as a second vehicle would be around 250 kms/week.

me lkots of times extra power and still travelling under the posted

  9. And grabbing a handful of throttle will plant you into the boot of the
    vehicle in front?

I heard it was a Yank invention on the "Doctor John's" Battle-of-the-Twins
    'Guzzi of the early eighties.

  14. Likewise, I ride what I ride to work because I want to. If I wanted to be a
real miser I'd ride the rotary pushy. (Bought it when I didn't have a
    license, see.)

I get about 22km/l from The Jackal around town, and averaged about
18km/l coming back from Brisbane over the weekend (higher speed, a bit
of luggage, and a headwind most of the way).

At $1 per litre, that's about 6c per kilometer.

My truck gets about 6km/l running on LPG. At $0.40 per litre, that's
about 7c per kilometer. I find this interesting. ;-)
