Sharing a bike on a trackday?

So after doing the Ron Haslam day last week track riding has bitten my
brother. We've decided to jointly buy and older GSXR600/750 to use as
a track bike. Mostly owned by him, but a share by me so I can use it
    instead of risking the Thou.

How do trackday organisers take to people sharing a bike though?
Would he be able to use it in the beginner group and me in the inters?
Or for us both to be in the same group but alternate sessions (I'd go
in beginner at tracks I don't know).

I've mailed most of the trackday organisations, but just wondered if
    anyone had done it before?

I'm only guessing, but I reckon they'd not be that keen, as it would
    mess up their numbering system.

And going in different groups as usually one group is queuing up to go
out before the last one comes in.

Yeah, I'd noticed on the Hottrax site they have a schedule that shows
the inters immediately before the beginners with no gap.

I guess the plan is still a valid one, but we'll just have to do
different days. Or skip sessions, not such a hardship when most have
    7 or 8 sessions in a day.

  4. They won't care a bit. I had a go on a mates TZ250 at a Rockingham
trackday a few years ago and they never even noticed I wasn't on my
    Thundercat.

So then as darsy pointed out, it'd just be the logistics of swapping
    the bike over between sessions.

  6. Yes and that depends very much on the circuit - Cadwell for instance
could be tricky as I think they close off the back of the next group,
but Rockingham (going back a few years at least) or Mallory should be
    fine.

Why should the organisers care?, two of you have paid and I've seen
people turn up with more than one bike before.

Not with bikes, but with cars you see that all the time, at least at the
smaller circuits. They just tend to have two scrutineering stickers on
the car provided it is eligible to run in more than one group.

So I wouldn't think that it would be a problem.

The only problem I can see is that you'd never get a chance to let
things like the brakes cool off between sessions.

That was a massive issue for me on car track days - could do 5 laps at a
time before I needed half an hour off the track to get my brakes back.

Don't know how badly bike brakes react to track use, though.

Each rider gets a band & a sticker for the bike, put both stickers on the
bike & you have the wristband. At Donington it would have been piss easy as
you can swap over as the others come in. I would go in different groups
though, or you are limiting the amount of time on the track by 50%

Yeah, that's rather dumb of me isn't it. When the second rider gets
the announcement to kit up and get ready they just give a pitlane
signal to the first rider to come in a lap or two early.
Oh, I assumed that would be the case anyway and wasn't worried about
    that.

For the most part we'd be in different groups. I'd normally be in
    inters and he in beginners.

Again, drawing on my car days experience - 2nd drivers usually get a
    vastly reduced rate.

Easy job then Ben, no point in having two bikes then. You missed out on
Champs racebike, bloody superb bit of kit :)

I think this is unlikely in the bike ones, but you never know, and it
    doesn't hurt to ask.

I did strongly consider it, but we need a bike that's road legal.

My brother is owning 2/3rds of it and me the other third. He's going
to use it as a road bike, and both of us use it on track.

And I just happen to have won this...

....which should do the job nicely. High mileage, but all the
important bits have been replaced. Nice to see they've done the coils
as well, those went on my 750.
