Estonia and Ukraine are both, afaik, very much in Europe, being west of
    the Urals.

Turkey spans the Bosphorus, with a tiny part of the country on the
European side and the rest on the Asian.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Europe has a handy map.

Well, political maps and geographical maps are often at odd with each
other. Similarly, post office boundaries don't necessarily match
    political boundaries.

Are you suggesting they're not in Europe, then?

They must be - after all, they're in the Eurovision Song Contest...

The bit we're going to next month is definitely Asia, as it's South
and East of the Bosphurus, which I believe is the official continental
    divide, as it were.

Full EBU membership is dependent upon being within the European
broadcasting area which, for fairly obvious reasons, extends beyond the
    geological boundary of Europe itself.

Will you kindly **** off with your sensible, factual explanations?
    Honestly.

That would involve dealing with the government.

    This is _never_ good.

They have red tape, lots of it. Red rope, red glue, even blue-tack stuff
    in red.

You have to fill out forms to get forms, in order to get a signature from
someone, enabling you to get another signature from someone else along a
long line of bureaucracy which has been designed (possibly not the right
word) carefully with two aims. 1. to provide employment in a somewhat
nepotistic manner to many people. 2. To lower your morale to the point of
leaving whatever you are trying to import in customs and consoling
yourself with the long jail term forthcoming from the murder of the next
person who demands a signature and a rubber stamp from their buddy down
    the corridor.

Lycian coast. Picking up a yacht at Fethiye after one night in a hotel
there, then probably sailing one week West towards Marmaris and one
week East towards (but probably not as far as) Antalya, weather- and
    CBAness- dependent.

http://www.lycianturkey.com seems to have loads of good info.

I'm guessing you're somewhere around Istanbul, where we're flying
through but not stopping, but if you know anything about the area, or
live more locally, I'd be glad to hear any local knowledge you may
have. Or even meet up for a beer or three if you're anywhere near the
coast. There's just the two of us on the (36ft) boat, so if you had
time and fancied a day out you'd be welcome. Lots of ifs, I know, but
    whatever.

It does get a touch on the F-Me side of warm. We had 53c in the town
centre last year. It was deeply unpleasant. The beach gets so hot you
can't walk on it without shoes and even then you are stepping from foot
to foot like some demented penguin on hot coals. You just want to feel a
cooling breeze then when it blows and its like being in a fan oven, you
go for a swim and its like hot soup . There really is no escape other
    than aircon.

I'll pretty much give you a money back guarantee on the weather. I'm in
Antalya further details can be found in a thread ^ up there somewhere.

Mail me at the one in the headers. We should communicate further re beer.
    :)
