A2 ? I'm talking about the EX250-F2 thru F7F models, model years 1989-2007, sold as Ninja 250R in the USA and GPX250R outside the USA. IIRC there's also a ZZR-250 sold outside the USA with an alloy frame that uses the same engine. The engine in the 2008 model year EX250-J8 is similar to the previous EX250 engine but is definitely tuned for more midrange at the expense of a little top end power. In practice I'd rather have more midrange because using the last bit of power on the older EX250 mill requires revving the living tits off it, while the new mill should deliver usable power at a more accessible rpm range.
Ok (and thanks for the timeline etc).
Apologies if the UK model nomenclature is different, the marketing names are usually different (what's on the tank or sidepanels) but the model numbers in the service manuals are typically the same worldwide, I've owned and still have the factory service manuals for a number of Kawks and they typically have the hp, jetting, lighting, etc. specs listed for the same bike for all the worldwide markets they sell them into.
Sorry as well Mark as I didn't realise we had folk from outside the UK here (well except a few ex-pats in Europe maybe). Yes, as Ben kindly points out later I was talking about our restricted licence riders (like our daughter) and where this '33bhp' is measured. So, if it says somewhere that the 'bike' produces (say) 45hp it should also specify if that is measured at the engine or back wheel? (Sorry, performance stuff has not previously been of interest to me). All the best .. T i m
