Shock Absorbers

  1. Getting near time to do something about Maries R1150R suspension. Could get
the rear rebuilt, there's no point with the front apparently, but also
thinking about front and rear replacements. The only requirements would be
rebound and preload adjustments. Compression not needed and remote
hydraulic preload not necessary once the preload is setup anyway, the bike
    only ever carries one person.

    White Power, Ohlins,
what other brands and who sells them? Not after the best race shock, the
application will be touring and generally using the bike as a draft horse.

Ikon aren't doing monoshocks yet, so they are out of the question

I stuck a Bitubo monoshock on the XLV, an enormous improvement
over stock. I got an IZE with rebound damping and preload adjustment.
Nicely made, works well, probably not as good as WP or Ohlins or
whatever but a good workhorse shock. Did you ask the guys at
    Munich Motorcycles what they reckon?

I put Ohlins front & rear on R1100RT. The bike rode and handled
magnificently with them on, and I'd do it again.

Cost was about $2300 incl fitting, with remote preload on rear & ride-height
    adjuster.

Sold them for $1,650 after three years and about 45,000km and put the
    originals back on for trade-in.

Tyre wear was also markedly reduced after fitting the good shocks, too.

Fournales have a very poor reputation, I had one and sent it down to
Tasmania to the Frog for a rebuild and was told that parts were no longer
held for that model. He offered a new one for $1,400. I told him to keep the
old unit and purchased an Ohlins.

Alan I can get Ohlins at a very good price. Give me a call to discuss.

Nah, just the Fates getting even with Boxer for telling Al P that
there's nothing whatsoever wrong with BMW driveshafts.

True, I sgeared off the bolts that secure the driveshaft in my old BMW
2000 through towing a trailer full of bricks.
