Decided that I should get the R6 back on the road, so phoned bike shop last
week to see about getting it sorted (else I'd be at EOSM in the car!).

To cut a long story short, they very kindly offered to sort it all out for
me whilst I'm on hols if I gave them a list of what I needed doing. So, I
thought it best to get it to them today, so that's another thing done before
    I go away on Thu.

First concern as I walked over to my garage was would it start? Last
started it a couple of months ago (at least) and last rode it when I moved
house (8 months ago). It started fine. Next worry was would my brakes
work? Rode it out garage to flat section of forecourt and it seemed to stop
ok. Togged up (but wearing jeans...gasp), I flung my leg over and moved
    off.

Jesus Christ, but it's seriously fast and the riding position is so extreme.
My feet kept missing the pegs for the first while, so unused to riding it I
was. It did feel wonderful to be back on it though and it was running
impressively well for the length of time it's been sitting still. I took it
pretty easy, kept a good, long distance from vehicles in front and got to
destination safely. It's amazing how the lack of a current MOT certificate
can improve one's riding so, even if it is legitimate to be on the road.

So, my steed should be ready for action when I return - really can't wait to
get out on it again. The Honda has been marvellous in being fun but also in
making me appreciate what I have with the R6.

I'm hoping for a similar Epiphany on the 12R. I've not ridden it for a
few weeks whilst i've been pootling around on the FJ ...

Hmmm, I'd say you had more chance if you'd been bimbling around on one of
your stable of Wetdreams rather than the FJ :)

Not sure I'd have felt the same about the 9R tbh.

I've been out thrashing the tits off the ZRX today, as it's in for it's
24K service tomorrow. I hope it's actually out of tune and they make it
    better.

Hmm, wouldn't it be more mechanically sympathetic to thrash the tits
off it /after/ the service ?!

No. They'll replace any dodgy bits before the trackday this way.
