Shop with good baglux range ?

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by anonymouslemming, Jul 25, 2008.

  1. Hi all,

Can anyone recommend a store within an hour or two of City Airport
that has a good range of Baglux stuff? I'm happy to buy the tank cover
online, but I'd really like to get a look at the various bags,
preferably attached to the bike so that I can decide which one I want.

I've called all of the places I usually shop, and they can all order
stuff in but none of them have a range in-store to look at.

It will be for my recently acquired CBR600F, so I don't want anything
too big because I'm really enjoying having the fairing to hide behind.

    Thanks in advance,

Baglux is expensive and ain't that great quality IMHO. Unless your
tank's non-magnetic I would look at one of the other alternatives.

  3. Hmmm - I'd pretty much settled on them because I didn't want a
magnetic bag. What would you recommend then ?

And more importantly, where could I go to see it :)

    Thanks,

I've got an Oxford something-or-other (sports expander?) that you can
make pretty much make any size you want - from just a map holder all the
way up to a bloody great big tower that I can just see over.

The problem with Baglux (I have one on an ST1100, again IMHO) is that
the tank cover stitching isn't that great, doesn't appear very strong to
me. The bag's also quite difficult to get on and off vs. a magnetic one.

Heinz Gherkin have quite a range, IIRC.

I disagree. I put a baglux tank cover on every bike since 1994. I've been
using the same black Alpha [1] bag on bikes since 1996. Whilst the initial
purchase price might be high the value for money is good due to the
longevity and potential resale value of the cover. The back-up from the N
Wales distributor is good e.g. if you lose a strap or fastener they will
often send you a replacement for free.

I've always bought a matching tank cover and used the black Alpha bag
regardless of bike colour. When selling the bike I've always sold the tank
cover separately on Ebay or similar, returning 30-50% of the RRP.

I used the Alpha on a CBR600FX. It works fine. In fact I preferred riding
the bike with the tank bag fitted as it provided a bit of support for my
fat gut, taking some weight from my wrists. The Alpha will expand, by
undoing a zip. This is fine for a short shopping trip to get something
large home. You wouldn't want to go touring with the bag fully expanded.
The Alpha has a decent sized map pocket and a handy zip compartment for
    sunglasses etc.

I decided to go for Bagster because the front of the ZZR's tank has
non-magnetic covers, so choice was limited. However, it certainly
looks the biz - time will tell about longevity.

Bagwise I went for the new Evosign -

    Nice bit of kit.

I've had Baglux covers for every main bike since the Thunderace, and
all of them have been made to extremely high standards and very
versatile. My Alpha bag has been excellent, and I recently acquired a
map pocket that is very handy too.

Utter nonsense. I've used their stuff for 15 years and think it's
easily the best solution on the market. And their after sales service
is excellent, even for stuff that is years old.

Eddie will be along shortly to tell you that you're a fucking idiot.
