Just thought I'd share an example of how companies try and cash in on
    this "patriotic spending".

    http://www.usgalco.com/

Here's a copy of what I wrote to them:

Hello, I was brought to your site from a dealer of yours and I was
looking to purchase some of your companies products. On the opening
page, I found what was a insult to all Americans. I found a picture of
the Statue of Liberty altered as a "sales pitch" wearing a shoulder
holster and a background of a U.S. flag. I found this to be completely
unpatriotic and I will no longer consider buying a product
manufactured by your company. I might not be able to drive your
company out of business, but I can keep your company from making money
off my dollars when your company desecrates an American symbol.

Since the events of 9/11, I've seen many of these silly marketing ploys. For
an example, try to think of ALL the new products that you've seen that have
since been released in American flag patterns. These items have all been
    touted as "collectibles", of course!

Pocketknives, toy cars, stuffed animals, flashlights, handbags, whatever...
there's obviously a ton of money to be made from sheeple who think buying
gear with symbols of America makes them more patriotic.

I notice that a hell of a lot of it is aimed at "bikers". As if most of them
    weren't nationalistic enough already.....

It's really funny that we are on another off-topic political freakout with
    this post.

    "An insult to all Americans"?

    Really?

I served in the USMC Infantry and my dad did 30 years in the Army. I'm not
gonna get my panties in a bunch because some gunleather shop is using a
statue that the French gave us in their advertising.

Hell, last Halloween I saw a 6'-plus drag queen DRESSED as Lady Liberty and
    I didn't bat an eyelash.

(well, I did after she winked at me...but I still couldn't get her number.)

BTW- I'm crossposting this twaddle to where it belongs.

Your "fetish" for "topics" seems selective..
Something for all of us to think about..
No matter who gave us the statue, she is still a symbol of this United
States and represents the feelings of our people and the people of the world
... Disrespect for her is disrespect to the principals of our own value
    system..
Why should you.. That idiot has the right to exercise his/her own
declaration.. In my own right, I don't have to acknowledge that disrespect
for one of my own symbols of liberty..
Good for you .. now go ride your motorcycle and remember to wear your
helmet... LOL Be sure to stay on "topic"..

the above was taken directly from my post...

oh, yeah- I forgot about your habit of replying without seeming to have read
    the previous post..

Also- I never asked for an end to all off-topic posts, only an end to those
    that disintegrated into petty sniping.

    (oops.....)

(I'll try to make this one of my last exceptions, I swear)

BTW- I think I finally got that little oil leak that most Savages suffer
    from.

    Dang it.

However, it's the first real mechanical issue the scoot's ever had, and it's
been my only transportation for almost 3yrs.

(bringin' up bikes again, just for shits and giggles...)

And finally, I don't wear a helmet unless it's raining hard (or really cold)
when I leave home- and I've heard all the arguments already.

When my time's up I want to have enjoyed myself as much as possible, and
that includes having the wind in my face.

I always carry a helmet..(sometimes, depends on where I am going)..
When I run into someone like you, I am always curious.. What was your
position on the helmet issue when it was the law and what support did
you give to all the boys and girls who were trying to do something to
get it changed. Sputnik Strain and a whole bunch of bikers walked
those capitol halls, preached to anyone who'd listen, anywhere they
could find them.. Even on the "net".. Thanks to that crew, you don't
have to wear a helmet.. Cheers..
