I'm having exactly the same dilemma.

I've chopped the back of the bike, put the small numberplate on and
replaced the headlight bulb that had blown.
This is the sensible option. I've thought long and hard about taking the
car and there's also the bonus of being able to carry more shite with
    you.[1]
I really want to take the bike but I'm too fucking old to be getting wet
and cold - even if my waterproofs /are/ ok!

[1] Not really an issue for you as Adie is in the support vehicle.

Not really, you just open the throttle and go. It makes a journey
    unbearable if you don't.

The decision's been made. It's not raining any more and the sky
actually looks as if it's clearing a bit so I'm off to load the bike
    in a minute.

Update: The sky is now very dark, I suspect Andy is going to get
    *soaked*.

    Use the bike wuss !

I was in SHeffield yesterday when the stair rods came down, water proofs
turned out to be Jean's, thought bugger it and came home on the Snale pass
    in the down pour.
