    And it's a beaut.

There were Pat and I, having breakfast at Hartside Cafe after an
excellent blast through Weardale, when in walk YTC and Jean, on their
way to Eddie's to pick up the Ducati. So we had to follow them there
and admire the bike. Looks and sounds good. Still just a bit too tall
for Pat, though, so not for us.

    It's not quite that bad.

At least by 40 you know what life's about; i.e. you've abandonded the
charade that there's any planning and everything is just left to luck
    and/or laziness.

It's been a long six months, then:

Thanks. As another member of the "Class of 66" I really needed to hear
that. I'd best book the Ron Haslam race school before I forget how to
    ride a bike.

Now _that_ is bollocks. Sure, you have to start taking a bit more care
of yourself, and getting fit for skiing now takes me a week or so,
rather than just a couple of days, but it's nothing like as bad as you
    suggest.

I have noticed that injuries take much longer to heal, like my
sprained ankle, done in march[1], that still gives me gip, but they do
    get better eventually.

[1] Of course, if I'd got any treatment for it, or stopped skiing[2]
on it, it might have helped.
[2] It only hurt[3] if I rotated it; up and down was fine, so I just
had to make sure my technique was A1.
    [3] Like hell.
