So the sticker that Andy mentioned says 'Castrol Racing 2 Stroke',
which to me implies the Power 1 Racing 2T, the guy says TTS, & Lozzo
says it smells like castor based. Confusing!

I've emailed my New Best Friend[1] (Automotive Oils Technical Advisor
at Castrol) to see what he reckons.

[1] MV back brake locked up solid on the way to Avebury due to moisture
in the fluid expanding when hot[2]. Matey stops to see if I need a
hand, & gives me a Williams F1/Castrol branded Leatherman to use as I
didn't have any tools with me. He insisted I keep it, which was a good
job as it locked again on the way home.

[2] Lesson learnt - brake fluid doesn't keep even when put in a wine
bottle & all the air sucked out with one of those vacuum pump things[3].

[3] Which normally I wouldn't bother doing, but this was SRF which is
bastard expensive (50 quid a litre).

Who's just replied, saying get some of the oil out, stick it in a glass
jar, & pour a bit of normal (mineral based) engine oil in. If the 2T's
castor based, they won't mix & will separate out.

Also TTS is red & castor based are brown, although it may not be too
easy to tell the difference if it's old & murky.

    What a nice man!

But, you ride an MV on public roads and don't carry tools? You mad
    impetuous fool, you.

There were many, many, many at Cassington. I think you may have been
    overcome with emotion.

Two strokes, or Kawasaki two-stroke triples?

I might have coped with the former. Probably not with the latter.

    Both I'm afraid. 250, 380, 750 triples, LCs, 250D, even a fizzie! Plus
loads of other old Jap stuff, several Vincents, plenty more old Brit
    stuff, Harley flat-tracker etc etc.

That's Tyga bodywork, from Thailand, not Japan.

I was tempted to do something similar to mine but most CBA. It does look
nice but the original tank is retained and the old-fashioned shape kinda
clashes with the curves of the aftermarket bits.

  9. Something blocked in the MC then, or perhaps it doesn't even have an
    expansion orifice.

The prices on the web site look great but they're direct prices from
Thailand and don't include shipping or import duty. The prices from the
UK importer are about double and then you need to factor in the work
required to fit it, let alone having it painted up properly.

I'll be keeping mine standard for the forseeable.

which we've now done. The old stuff was clear and very thick.
The TTS is indeed reddy/brown and is now settled on top of the clear
    stuff but not gone gloopy.

Clear & thick 2 stroke oil? Hmmm. At the risk of getting a slap, you
did take it from the 2T tank & not the gearbox, didn't you...
Did you mix it up or just pour it onto the old stuff?

Andy can give you that slap. yes it came out of the take that said
"two stroke oil". when I say clear it was baby oil non coloured.
mixed it up and left it. its now been drained and is full of TTS.

No, I took it out of the petrol tank.
Mixed it up thoroughly and then it separated so the old stuff was at
    the bottom within 5 minutes.

I've drained it all and then kicked it over until new oil came out of
the pump so the pump's primed ok but I'll let Adie do a couple of
hundred miles before I have a go on it.

I reckon it'll be ok but it'll be fingers crossed and hovering over
    the clutch for a while.
