It's officially dead and carried off.

Now all I need is to sort out the DS and UKRMHRC numbers. Who's the
    kotl for these, anyone know?

    Ahem...(cough)

This is a very emotional moment for me and, if I break down I am sure you
will all understand. (sniff). Since it's inception we have seen a fair array
of worthy candidates for this prestigious award but they all fall into
insignificance when compared to Ace's heroic effort. (sniff).

    <drum Roll>

It is with great humbleness and honour that I am privileged to present Ace
    with a DS#8

I thangewall. It's nice to know that all the pain and suffering have
not been in vain, and that my humble efforts are so rewarded.

What are the requirements for each? I'm pretty sure my "accident group"
crash would qualify for a DS, but what's the requirements for the HRC?

Now that I've looked it up, you seem to be on dodgy ground for UKRMHRC
eligibility as you don't plan to get another bike.

Well that's up to Molly, of course, but ending up with yourself and/or
bike in a ditch is pretty much my understanding.
Not sure, but I'm assuming that being put together with metal and bone
grafts probably counts. I've now (badly) scanned in the most recent
    x-rays: http://acenet.ifrance.com/scan00001s.jpg
http://acenet.ifrance.com/scan00002s.jpg. Can't really see the bones
properly, but they're at 100% scale with the ruler I put on the
    scanner bed.

Just a tad. If you look closely, particularly on the second one, you
can see a much thicker zone on the two vertebrae just below the second
set of screws down. That's where they packed it with chips taken off
my pelvis to help the smashed bones to heal and fuse together.

I'm going in a week today to have them removed, which hopefully won't
be as painful, but I'm expecting to be in for quite a while, given
that there'll be a fair amount of disturbance to both soft tissue and
    bones when they do so.

Oh, right. I couldn't make out the bones well enough. Anyway, it's
    only a knee.
