Strictly speaking, I'm not sure that any such assumption was implied. One
does like to be polite, though, even to one's imaginary friends.

I was chatting to a Superduke owner a few weeks back.

He reckoned the fuelling / exhaust set up when they leave the factory
makes them all but unrideable, but satisfies the emissions regs.

He estimated that £1500 worth of aftermarket stuff, including a full
Akrapovic zorst system transformed his machine into something very good
    indeed.

Seems a bit much to me, buying a not inexpensive machine brand new, and
having to lash out a 4 figure sum to make it any good.

Looked and sounded bloody gorgeous mind.

I'd be very surprised if the fueling issue wasn't something that could
be sorted out by the dealer simply by re-mapping it at the first
    service.

    Well quite.

Matey reckoned the standard exhaust somewhat strangled the power though.

Maybe he just preferred the look / noise from the Akropovic.

He was adamant that in standard form it was not vey good.

I'm not really in a very strong position to argue the merits of
standard KTM exhausts because I had the ones on my 690 changed to
Akros before it even left the shop.

Hmm, I sense a bit of a theme.

Why did you swap out the standard exhaust from new?

Find a photo showing the standard cans and you'd have part of the
reason. The other parts of the reason were that it's louder and it
    goes better with Akros fitted.

Oh, they were thrown in as part of the deal as well so that made it
    even better.

Sounds like a similar tale to that which the Superduke chap told me.
