You might want to rig a white LED somewhere above the plate too, an
unlit plate is an MOT failiure and the your bike will be due early
    next year.

I think Oggy has the right of it again. A K3/4 can be had for very few
pounds. A K5 on might be marginally better on track but on road? I doubt
it. And they are surprisingly comfy.

Especially with jota bars, a tall screen and panniers )

To be perfectly honest a K1/2 on the road is still a fabulous bike for a
couple of grand and quite plush. 99% of people who say they can outride its
capabilities on the road are lying or sadly deluded.

Well as something resembling a human spider, you wouldn't be. 10 miles on
Chris's bike had my neck and back nipping up.

My K8 is a better road bike than the 10R was. On a track I doubt
there's anything in it at all, but the GSXR would be easier to go fast
on for a less experienced person.
If I didn't have the money to buy a new one, I'd be quite happy with
another K1, I thought my first one was fantastic and I was quite cut
up that I was forced to sell that when I was. I'd still have it now.

Good point, I think I'll use a few UV LEDs.

They should cause the numberplate to glow in the dark without lighting
up anything else. (will have to check if UV light on a normal yellow
    plate works)

It'll confuse the MOT testers but so long as I get them to check in a
darkened room, they'll realise and hopefully be happy with it.

Not the prettiest of bikes though. The K3/K4 isn't what you'd call a
design classic but it's fairly easy on the eye. The K1/K2 is really
starting to show its age - it looks like exactly what it is, a cosmetic
halfway point between the SRAD and the K3.

Ah if you care about cosmetics I suppose. I quite like the K1/2 as it
    happens.

I love the way they've worked the 7R intakes into the fairing. They've
managed to take a great looking yet slightly dated bike and bring it
bang up to date. Top work.

    "Oi! Kawasaki! Build this"

There was a fairly detailed description under the pic of which bits of
bodywork they'd pinched from where. I'd pick up a back issue but I'm not
sure it's worth a fiver. Somebody on here must have a copy.
