    3Gbps my arse. That might be the bus speed, but the disk speed won't
    get anywhere near it.

    It always is. The increased bus speed means that you can have more
    drives running at full chat on the same bus before you hit a
    bottleneck, but if it's SATA you're unlikely to have a shared bus
    anyway, so the numbers are just marketing nonsense.

    Well, I've used a few (7 or 8) drives from the 'spinpoint' series and
    haven't had any problems with them. Agree it's a small sample but I
    thought they had a fairly good reputation.

    However... If my memory serves didn't Champ have a DOA?

    heh - I'd say that for a home user, '7 or 8' is quite a lot :)
    Yep - eBuyer sorted the refund with no drama at all.
