25 years since the MRC organised their first Cadwell track day, which
was I suspect one of the first events of its kind.

I was there then, and again today on the same 2C/375. Unfortunately it
blotted its copybook by going on to one pot in the first session. After
the problems last week I assumed more shit in the carbs, however it
turned out, as it so often does, to be lack of spark. A quick swap
confirmed one duff transducer. A disgrace, as it only just had a new one
20 years ago. None to be had now, but North Leics. are doing completely
different electronic ignition units and pickups which are amazing
apparently. In view of the proposed NHCA Forgotten Era class next season
I shall treat it to a set of those.

So GFR#1 got a full day of track time (apart from a long delay caused by
some modern Honda depositing oil all round the track). The front brake
is definitely better than on GFR#2. By coincidence that bike's original
owner was there who I knew from the Gilera Network days. A GFR comes in
to its own when you can keep it on the power valve, so it harried many a
much larger capacity machine on the approach to Barn and could be
launched through Charlies and the Gooseneck in a very committed manner.

A most enjoyable day. Some interesting Italian machinery and old mates
to see. A few new folk to chat to, including a former Moto Parilla GP
rider, recently returned to riding the circuits at the age of 70.
