Easter Monday, Silverstone GP circuit, Focused Events, 100db limit, 150
    quid.

If anyone's toying with the idea, or thinking of leaving it nearer the
time, it's pretty much full, so time to shit or get off the pot.

I think it's me, Nige and Ben Sales so far.

    Are spectators allowed?

Silverstone is just up the road from me, and I may be at a loose end.

    Oooer.

But, no, for various reasons I need to ride down on the day. It's
only a shade over an hour for me so not too bad.

Losing traction on the surplus of testosterone which will be smeared
all over the track would be my concern.

    That's my take on Silverstone.
You should do one at Cadwell. A much more interesting and 'natural'
    circuit.
Or an off-road bike on tarmac shod with suitable tyres.
Making up for lost time now though.

  13. I've done one track day in umm... 31 years of biking. Sllverstone.

I didn't enjoy it massively, I could see the attraction but I couldn't
for the life of me learn the circuit and found the corners hard to see
because of a lack of hedges and other objects clearly marking the
    corner.

    I don't think I'll bother again.

Riding bikes off-road however is a completely different thing.

My biggest biking regret is I didn't do more of it when I was younger- I
grew up on a farm FFS.

Unlikely, unless you're giving it serious welly or somebody dumps oil or
coolant right in front of you. Which is still fairly unlikely.

If Steve thinks Silverstone is bad, he should try Rockingham

I've only done one - at Laguna Seca. I also found it difficult on some
sections, but not on others. Some corners seemed duck easy, but the
Corkscrew was a mindfuck. You go up this steep hill and you can't see
anything, then the whole world drops out from under you, somewhere to
the left. There isn't anywhere a spectator can get that view. You have
to be on the track to understand it.

huh. I was wrong. The track is now on StreetView, so you can see it:

I can't even do the corkscrew on the playstation. Managed it a few
times, but generally end up fucking it up completely. Mental, mental
    corner.
