Single or twin disks?

My R80 RT monolever has a single front disk. It never has stopped on a
sixpence exactly, and I've always wondered about a twin disks, pretty
much a bolt-on conversion for these.

I've just seen the bits on fleabay, so thought I might ask what the team
thinks: which is better - more force onto a single disk with less
unsprung weight and less gyroscopic force, or a bigger (and better
    balanced) braking area?

If I did it, I assume the back drum shouldn't need changing, coz that
would be rather awkward (presumably a new bevel box at least if it's
    very different).

Are there any other factors I should consider?

  2. A single disc will always try and twist the forks when it's applied,
whereas twin discs don't. That's a factor in twin discs' favour.

The unsprung weight is an issue, but plenty of Beemers run twin front
discs with no problems and if you want the ultimate in handling, you
won't be buying an old R80 anyway.

No need to change the rear drum at all, no. I'm assuming that all the
conversion bits come with the larger master cylinder that you'll also
    need, by the way.

    Good points, many thanks.

They were selling the callipers and pipework together, but the master
cylinder was separate. It might be an expensive operation yet.

I'll give it more thought, as I'm used to the bike's 'little quirks' and
cash is always good (in _my_ pocket, that is :) ).

    Cheers,
