Anyone got a clue where I can find cheap 225/45ZR17 snow tyres and
fitting close to Bedford or Melton Mowbray? The Evo owner wants some on
one of the cars, the other car already has them.

www.camskill.co.uk seem to have about the best range of winter tyres in
the UK, and damn good prices, but they're mail order and up in the Lake
    District.

You should be able to find somebody to fit 'em locally easy enough, in
exchange for crossing their palms with a drinking voucher or two...

http://www.tyre-shopper.co.uk/winter-tyres.asp? has some. Speed rating is H
or V, which is possibly as high as winter tyres go, £117 fro an Avon is
    cheapest per tyre.

Way too expensive. We'll use what the car has currently fitted and he
can get his own in Austria. He thinks the prices here are extortinate,
    I'm inclined to agree.

    Thanks anyway

I know Phil the owner quite well, I'll give him a bell in the week.

  7. Yep, I'd think they'd be cheaper there as they're more popular so many
more suppliers and lower prices through competition.
If they weren't so expensive here I'd seriously consider having a set
for winter use. I used to commonly fit Mud and Snow tyres yonks back,
but haven't seen them here at all, which surprises me in sticksville.

Another vote for Camskill - they do next day delivery on stock items
anyway, and they're a very helpful bunch, too.
This is Lozzo, I doubt he would have a problem finding someone who could
fit a tyre or three for him :).

So do I, there's a sense of joy as you watch it rolling the bead over,
a little childish but ultimately satisfying.
I've done the odd Saturday just fitting bike tyres, that isn't so bad,
but doing it non stop all week, week in week out would drive me nuts.
