Given the beast a good run today. Adjusted the clutch, sorted a few bits &
bats. Got new front pipes & y piece for £80 brand new SS :)

Took it for a trail ride through the local woods etc, seems great if not a
bit heavy off road. Very nice & muddy now.

The only thing i have found that needs looking at is the choke/throttle

The choke lever doesn't lock in place & you have to hold it on for choke,
not a massive problem as even today it didn't need a lot, but i'm wondering
if it's anything to do with the throttle.

If i rev it, the htrottle snaps back fine, but the revs only go slowly back
down, also if you move the choke cable the revs go all over.

    Any ideas?

On an old Alfa four pot, that would indicate it's running lean. No idea
if it holds true for all engines though.

Is it a true choke butterfly or some sort of starter jet and plunger
    arrangement?

<googles> The latter, by the look of this.

Knackered choke plunger so that it doesn't stay in position and also
comes off and on its seat when the cable is moved?

The CB250 needed choke for a good while when cold and I could never find
a way to lock it on whilst riding. As you revved it the choke would go
off. The bloke that bought it for his Mrs thought there was something in
the handlebar end of the cable and knob that ought to achieve this and
was going to have a fiddle with it when he got home.

  5. So you're saying it's light weight when used off road?
