Took the cb250rs out for a ride last week and in the middle of Taunton
it would not get out of first gear. Got off and put it on the stand,
that looks wierd. The hunk of aluminium that holds the stand and
foot peg has moved, it also holds the gear lever.

On closer examination it is hinging on the swingarm pivot and seems
to be detached at the front from its frame outrigger. Heave it back
to the correct position and ride home carefully.

A bit of disassembly reveals that the tubular outrigger had been mashed,
presumeably by a broken chain, and the remains had rotted away. I really
should have noticed this when I changed the chain & sprockets.

So today was a heavy duty fettling day. Cut out the bad metal, fabricate
the end bracket onto a piece of inch steel tube, and tack in place.
Too windy for the MIG today so tomorrow will see it welded up and
stronger than new. Maybe I should also tackle the noisy cam chain
    before it gives trouble.

Indeed, but on the positive side I get to dig out kit that has not been
used in 5 years and refresh my welding skills.

Ah yes - because of Vincent Knee, I can't bend oomeleftleg enough to use
a footrest in the proper place, so I have the choice of easyrider rests
and changing the linksge to brake anf gears, or making footboards, and
    ditto.

While easyrider rests would be easier, a fiend has a small furnace which
will melt ally and brass/bronze, and I can make patterns and
casting-boxes, so yes, it's refresh my skills innit.

Since I am making a casting-box for the son of said fiend so he can
molish ally sumps for Reliants, I shall claim a favour...
