They are uglier than normal jeans for work use, but Owen is looking
for comfort and protection in warmer climes, so they're probably a
    good alternative.

I'd still be wanting to wear leathers myself despite the heat, but
those with a ventilated panel, rather than complete leather.

I have both types, but I feel much more protected at speed in leather,
so always choose this option if there's any motorways on my planned
    route..

The Draggin' jeans i've got would be ok around town / A roads etc.

I know it sounds sensible but if one goes for the Luge event at M-Way speed
does anything stop the abrasion, short of your bones?
I don't think I know anyone who has done the 500 yard event from a ton+ down
one of 'er Maj's finest motorways.

Do you never watch bike racing? Decent leathers will protect your skin
at well over the ton, as long as you don't hit anything solid.

In reality though you're very unlikely to slide far on tarmac on the
road. The longest I've managed was around 20 yards, & my jeans survived
(which is more than can be said for the rocker cover on the R65 I was
    riding).

In answer to you and Champ I wondered if leathers would save your own hide
sliding to a halt for 100+ down motorway tarmac?
Racers usually end up on the grass/pea gravel pretty smartly.

There's been a few I've seen where they slide forever down a long
straight. Most notably whoever it was who got their front brake lever
clipped on the straight in a 125/250 race (McWilliams?).

  10. I had an 80mph off, of the sky brake-lights tarmac sky headlights sky
brakelights repeat type, on a motorway, weaing leathers and a textile
    jacket.

The jacket didn't fare so well, although I didn't get any gravel rash
at all. The leather jeans were find for another few years of riding.

  13. I was impressed. Although, a seriously bashed and bruised ankle and
aggravated prior wrist injury weren't fun, but I walked away, so
    considered it a win.

I think Ill just get some light tan or grey leather perforated m/c
trousers made up. It really would be easier wouldnt it...

I've not crashed at motorway speeds. A few on here have, Lozzo, Colin,
    probably others on a track.

A few have has injuries due to protection riding up, as DNC said,
trousers being pushed up, or in Colin's case by losing a glove.
The textiles are fine around town, i've not had one hole on me once
they're sliding down the road. I wear mine on moptorways too, but i'm
not sure it'd be that hardy at close to 3 figure speeds.

Even with armour it doesn't help impact damage. I broke my clavicle by
falling off onto my shoulder ...

    Cheers,

    Paul.

I don't think he did in this case, which makes a change. He was trying
to address Owen's question - you were trying to answer a different
    question entirely.
