  3. Give my regards to Jason Butterworth (if he is still there).

And I work about 5 minutes walk away (on Groundwell Industrial Estate).

eric the brave bored us all completely to death with wittery prose
    along the lines of:
That's a good start. You can't even spell the name of your new
    company...

Not I, although I was offered a position there about 5 years ago. I
decided against it at the time based mainly on the commute it would
have involved (and it being Swindon of course).

Congrats. I had a call an hour ago confirming my new contract.

Are you using a Ltd company or doing the umbrella thing ?

  8. Bloody shite program assumes what you want to type. If you don't notice it
    first.

  9. 5 mins from me then. Could do coffee or something if you like some time?

I would also be looking for somewhere to kip the occasional night as well.

  10. It's a bit further than Barnwood was to home, 92 miles each way. About
    1 1/2 hrs this morning.

  11. Congrats as well.
I've been a Ltd company for ages. Not too sure of the umbrella thing,
although lots of Contractors do. Watch you don't get ripped off for fees
though. My accountant charges me 500 quid a year including personal tax
return. I do my own wages. I pay myself the same every month and then if
any is left over a bonus/catch up at the end of the year. Accurate to
    within 50 quid so far.

Thanks, and It was a nice birthday present :O)
Well, I was previously an IT contracter for over 7 years. Now, having just
secured a quite long (6 month) contract (1) I wish I had not dissolved my
    limited
company last year ie, paid the corp tax and kept it "live"

Thing is, post ir35, I am now getting conflicting advice about the most
efficient way to be a contractor at this time, depending on ones rate per hour.

I am not really happy about the agency controling my pay(e)

I am looking at restoring(2) the Ltd company I had ( I have all the paperwork
    and letterheaded stuff still)

    1. Have been a permie since, and hated it.
    2. Apparently this is possible.

    Any advice is most welcome.

My interview was in the summer of '99. I had been developing GSM codecs
for handsets previously but the postion I was offered was for base
    station software.
Like that would stand up in court.

Is that by bike? I don't think I could commute 1 1/2 hrs each way
daily. I'd have to refuel every day for a start!
