Just don't break anything on it.

Someone I know has one - rear break light cluster @£800 + fitting +
vat. His wife drove over a small pothole - about £4.5k to have the
    steering refettled.

Well I wasn't going to drive it anywhere ;)
Fortunately one of my tame Alfa mechanics jumped sideways. I know his
rates aren't that bad, but £800 for lights? Bloody hell.

I remember remarking that the Hayabusa was the Aspencade of sports-tourers,
although that's not quite the same thing.

The GL1200 is a shonky XJ40. The Ural is an ex-army LWB Series III.

Well I wasn't planning on getting *that* old one (thinking < 10 years)
That (very rough ebaying) seems to indicate that a Ferrari would be
about twice the price of a Maser. I already know a good independant as
well. Plus, I don't actually like the Ferrari image, much.
Hmmm, now that would be different. But still not really me.
That era in this case is the 80s though. I'm looking more late 90s

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Maserati-3200...ryZ18187QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem.

I am aware that they have 'shortcomings' ;)

Sfunny, I thought the GTi was quite apposite as it's bought be people
that think it's fast. Not that I've ever ridden a SV650

If it doesn't have to be Italian, 20k will get you a fully restored
    full-power early '70s Stingray - possibly even a big-block with over
400bhp. Mechanical parts are dirt cheap & they're very reliable.

If you're not fussed about originality & matching numbers, 10k will get
you an immaculate later, strangled one, with plenty left over for one
    of these - http://www.enginefactory.com/500hp.htm

And, as a bonus, it'll be in the garage enough that it'll feel like an
    Italian car.

I'd buy one in seconds if I had a spare 20k.

In Europe, yes. I see Maseratis on the road pretty much every day, but
Stingrays (apart from mine) maybe once a year.
