  1. "What sort of Brits?"

"Don't know. But a lot of them were wearing T-shirts with 'ukrm' printed
    on them."

As long as this enlightened age provides a decent way to pay the
    mortgage, I'm all for it.

The evil is the tax avoidance is legal. Don't blame the firms that take
advantage of it, the real villain of the piece is the Gov't that allows
    it.

I think that's rather over stating the case as genital mutilation -
particularly when inflicted on young girls - isn't really that amusing.

Whereas Harry Hill fits into the "inoffensive stuff that doesn't really
    bother me" category.

Blimey, a political point that we agree on! I think that pretty much
guarantees the planet will explode tonight.

  7. If a government decrees that doing such-and-such makes one liable to
taxation, then there is *absolutely* nothing wrong in arranging one's
affairs so that you do not do that particular such-and-such.

Blimey. I feel like Krusty. I'm sure I felt the Earth wobble just then.

  9. AOL. TV Burp is quite possibly the only reason to watch ITV1 at all.
Yes, it's childish and silly, but it *is* funny.

It's not that unusual. I don't really go in for sanctimonious politics -
I try to avoid the infantile nonsense.

  11. In Egypt it's 95% to 97%. Nothing to be proud of.
I may have imagined it but a lot of the female population have sad eyes.
I have never watched a single program.

  12. **** him, he (and others like him) should have been compelled to work in
the NHS for a minimum of ten years after qualification.
Not that he's funny in any way, anyhow, so no great loss to comedy.

Imprecise wording of regulations and clever accountants (possibly even
ex tax inspectors) can find loopholes that allow avoidance. We need the
parliamentary draftsmen FSA and high ranking IR officials to be cleverer
than the financial services bods. Public servants don't get whacking
great bonuses for finding loopholes though so QED.

Did I relate my story about being interviewed for a job by a former Head
of the Inland Revenue? I seem to recall that I did. Their loss.

I entirely agree, but I see no reason to let genuine feelings get in the

I think I've paid for it a few times over by now.

My sister did a degree in Geology and now works as an admin assistant or
something. I'm probably paying for hers too.

the best analogy but road accident is so over used.
