Some roll their eyes, or damn you with faint praise
Or disrespect your status as Gold Wing-er:
    "His bike, I'll grant, is flash in certain ways;
    It's not un-bling, but Nigel's Z is bling-er".

And some look down upon your workday bike:
"He really is a quite eccentric man
(Although, in fairness, he's a chap I like)
If he prefers a Blackbird to a Pan".

And some drop hints: "Now, keep this confidential-
I wonder if he had a brain disease?
I just can't see why someone so prudential
Would spend his time rebuilding two-stroke threes".

Console yourself, if talk like this should vex:
    They're jealous, 'cos you've got a CBX.

You know, a lot of people wot wrote pomes were, during their
lifetime, considered to be crap, and then, after they passed on,
were reassessed by posterity and considered really rather good.

Of course, a lot of people wot wrote pomes were, during their
lifetime, considered to be crap, and then, after they passed on,
were reassessed by posterity, which concluded that their
contemporaries were right and they really were crap.

I'm not planning to give up the day job, because
    a) I don't know what a garret is, and
    b) Whatever it is, I don't fancy starving in one.

I can hear a noise. It's either a CBX engine, or Billy Shakespear
    spinning at high RPM...

    It does indeed.

That's in part why I wrote a pome about a Great British
    Eccentric.
