more chance of highside on light smaller machinery.
more chance of lowside on large heavy machinery.

I still think you're off beam on this one Geoff. The near misses that
I have had have been because I have ridden through the incident, and
not brute strength. Last time I had an off was more to do with
tiredness and I didn't react appropriately enough in time. Still argue
that, all other things being equal, it's about skill and brake/
throttle control (and notwithstanding shit does happen). Our mileage
obviously does vary on this one.

    cheers, Bill

Should of got her transferred to The Valley Private, then mrs zip could have
    harassed her.

  6. Yes I've ridden one. No I'm bikeless right now. I'll get a BMW as soon
as I can justify the cost to my dear wife. She thinks I should play
golf and go trout fishing, not ride bikes at my age.

  10. You've put it in a nutshell GS. I hope the doubters can read and
understand your words if not mine.

  11. The design is there for all to see. You don't need to own one to look
at one. I have in fact owned several over the years and rate them
highly, that's why I want another.

  14. True, but I'd really like a 1200 GS to get to my fishing spot on, and
my fishing buddies both have 1150 GS bikes so they can get right off
the beaten track, away from their spouses for a while. They've both
come off their bikes a few times, but still believe them to be the
best bikes for the job. I agree.

Can I just mention that I dropped the GS last night?

Very gently, in the shed, but not entirely on purpose ... it was
one of those "I've caught it, I've caught it, pity all my body
weight is in the wrong place, Ooops" moments.

Still, at least that got it over and done with.

I can report that the R100GS is much easier to pick up than the
XLV750R, because of its low center of gravity and because it sits
on its crashbar rather than turning turtle.

Well keep trying, my (soon to be) father in law KeroseneCowboy had a
good lesson about 1150 GS bikes when his daughter Suzie (Cupid) bought
hers last month and wrote it off in the snow. I tried to stop her
buying it but her dad wanted one for himself so badly that he paid for
it and gave it to her for her birthday, but she crashed it the day
before her b/day. She's back in hospital now due to complications with
infection. You were right then and you are right now G-S.

You need you wife's permission to buy a motorcycle?

Perhaps you should buy a spine first?

You need to guy ride the superbikeschool countersteer bike.

Body weight is really crap for turning a bike - it can be done but you'd
better be bloody heavy and you're going to hang off a LOOOONG way to get
a very mild lean, and only at low speeds.

You countersteer to turn*, the amount of force you apply AND the
duration and speed with which you apply the force controls how much you
lean. A small amount applied very quickly can give you the same lean as
    a larger amount more slowly.
