Got rid of the stinky K1200RS at last. Persuaded the dealer to buy it back
off me for what is probably just over the going rate for a franchisee used
sale of that model/age/condition. I expect they'll have to sell it for a
    small loss.

The clutch, which failed at 6000, turned out to be clapped-out and not
contaminated. The dry, single-plate clutch these bikes are fitted with seem
to be made of cardboard and polystyrene. Maybe they're OK for motorways but
they can't handle stop-start traffic every day.

And to cap it all, the day before I handed it back, the BMW started
overheating and cutting out in solid traffic. Someone had managed to stuff
their car into a basement flat window almost opposite Earls Court and the
queue stretched up Chelsea Embankment for miles. Everyone was
rubber-necking and I nearly stopped to take pictures myself. It's not
everyday you see a car's arse poking out of the ground.

I picked up the FJR today. After commuting on the Transalp for a week or so,
it was nice to have a bit of grunt on hand again.

    Top bollocks.

UKRM in BMW's are shit shocker!

I've always fancied a go on one of those ever since I saw one used as a
    Virgin bike taxi.
I spoke to the rider for a bit and he said they rock.

That would be restricted, then, I expect?

Indeed. Didn't stop him lobbing it, though.

And then the finance co repossessed it, IIRC.
