Hmm... you could be right. Does anyone know whether turning (part) of
your house into a film studio requires planning consent (change of use)?
I imagine many people have a home office, and AFAIK that doesn't require
planning consent, but where is the line drawn? When I was a Parish
Councillor we had an ongoing dispute with a chap who used his garage and
drive as a commercial car repair workshop, he was on the wrong side of
the 'line'. What says the FOAK?

Surely, by definition, they've got to come somewhere?

It seems to me that he is causing no nuisance, and is only irritating
    some prudes.

    So, in summary, IDGAF.

I say that considering he's been doing it legally for the last ten years,
all the agencies that either allow or disallow this sort of thing are fully
aware of what he's doing, and as he's still doing it, it probably doesn't
require planning permission. *Family* planning yeah, but...

If he's got permission to use part of his house as a business area, he'll be
paying tax on it, so he'll just (rightfully) carry on.

And I can't fucking stand nosy bastard neighbours anyway, so they need
    fucking just because.

Nuisance has nothing to do with it. It all depends if it is considered a
change of use. The usual working from home considerations apply.

The article only says that he has been in the legal porn film business
ten years, not that he has been using that house for ten years.
If he has been granted planning permission, or the local authority have
decided that there has been no material change of use, indeed.

Point of clarification. Note that nuisance is a factor, but not causing
a nuisance does not automatically mean that change of use permission is
    not required. IYSWIM.

Pete, please don't take the wrong way. but I have just had a mental
image of you rocking up on the set of a porn shoot and starting to quote
case law at the female lead.

    Frankly, she didn't look impressed...

Chance would be a fine thing.

Nah, not me anyway, it would be a planning officer. Bunch of killjoys
they are - not like white hats ;-)

We pollution and noise types didn't usually get to visit such
interesting premises. Though the odd shebeen may have featured more than
just music, if we had gone beyond the front door. The Food/HSW
inspectors, however, tell a few tales of happening upon close
encounters of the sex industry kind when checking on the back rooms of
    various establishments.
