South Wales Run this Sunday

Just seen the weather forecast, looks like it'll be a cracking day for a
good long ride.

Meet Ystrad Mynach at 10.30 for 11.00am start. Lunch at Aberaeron.

 

Nice. I do hope you know that the road from Beulah to Tregaron is a rather
hilly / windy single track though. Oh, and you'll be going down the hairpins
at Devil's Staircase.

I rode it a couple of weeks ago for the RBR, it was fun, but I didn't try to
rush it.

So, if we're going South East from Beulah, then we're doing Devil's
Staircase the wrong way? - if so, I'll modify the plans and do it the
other way round.

I really enjoy the steep bits. I did the route with a few mates last
month. They liked it too. Even the city dweller on his Sprint ST.

If you want to avoid the steepest bits take the Llyn Brianne turning
about 6 miles east of Tregaron. Follow the road around the lake and end
up in Llandovery.

I can't make this ride as I have guests staying over on Saturday. Have a
good ride.

 

If you do that, you have to stop at the sluice carpark

conversation about how far you'd get if you rode flat-out up the
concrete ramp on a CR500...

Nah, you'll never!

 

Apologies, managed to say that the wrong way round, the map shows (assuming
that you go up the points) that you'll be going east (Tregaron to Beulah),
that means down the hairpins, I did it heading west (Beulah to Tregaron), up
the hairpins, and had no trouble. Only met 2 cars on the entire road & I
wasn't going quick.
