spag rally

Discussion in 'Australian Motorcycles' started by Zebee Johnstone, Oct 18, 2011.

  1. If you are thinking of going to the Spag...

"Paul has warned that the area from Mansfield all the way across to
Edi and on towards Wangaratta was heavily policed & also several speed
    cameras operating.

The Mansfield Festival is running across the Spag weekend & into
November so traffic through there will be slow and there’s also the
possibility of road race cyclists competing from Mansfield to
Whitfield. Therefore plan carefully and be prepared for the
possibility of some delays and the certainty of a significant police
presence. Perhaps they know we’re coming?'

    Damn cyclist hippies.

You coming, Zebee? I'm not sure whether I want to only go Friday
night, heading onto Geehi for Saturday (or vice versa, and make it to
    the actual spagfest)...

No, I'm not a rally person.

Mainly because I'm a morning person and that Just Doesn't Work...

But rallies are all about people rising at 6am and making lots of
noise and waking up the people in the tents next to them.

OK, Tim and Fred, I get it now...

I think Honda had the right idea with the CX series... Pity they
    didn't take it further...

Then we could have the Sake Rally... Much more fun-evoking..
Especially if you can imagine naked Japanese nubiles invading your
tent at the rally, in the wee hours, whispering "Honda, Honda, Honda"
in your ear, as they stroke your private parts...

A great way to make friends.
Don't forget to remove the baffle from your exhaust and to warm up the bike
    for the cold morning.

My thinking at Funkytown was to ride away slow to try and keep the noise
down (lol) but I was told this only extended the pain.

    Sorry again!

Well, it beats writhing in a bathtub full of spaghetti...

George, the undercover double-O rated construction worker sent to
Vietnam in March 1962 to build bridges so sensitive to our national
security that even the name of the unit he served with must be kept
secret until the very last of the concrete pourers and formworkers has
gone to his grave (unlike the other George here who engineers
wonderful bridges and is not at all shy about it), doesn't want to
meet me for a beer and a chinwag, but I'd love to brush up on my
Scottish accent-decyphering skills at Wollombi either this Friday or
one day next week if you're interested. ;-)

(The ususal fair weather caveat would apply.)

Well al the best to you all.
Can't make it this or next Friday - Wagga and Canberra both beckon.
    Sorry about that

The organiser only has their phonenum on the website. That blows my
plan of emailing them to find out when the local guzzisters are
riding up from Melbourne. Might have to dig out my phone.

Debrief: The 380km round trip was a bit much for this old sod who
generally only does short trips of maybe 30-60 kms, and I arrived back
home feeling sore, tired, and wishing that the grim reaper claimed my
sorry soul. Ghod I was stuffed! :-(

Has anyone ever thought of moving the Wollombi Pub a bit closer to the
    Blue Mountains? ;-)

Seriously though, it was good to get out there and have a chinwag with
Cam. I enjoyed it (except for the last half of the ride back when the
body decided to rebel at the punishment.)

Hmm, well proper lunches don't just come easy..... you have to work hard
at them and get them right.

Actually, I didn't realise that you had quite such a ride, for me, I was
only doing just about 250 kms. and, while I admit to some discomfort, it
was only on the really bumpy sections of the road out near Wollombi.

I suppose it was only right that I suffered just a wee bit of discomfort
since I had gone down the "style" route of yellow leathers and hooligan
bike. It would have been easier on the BMW.
That is the beauty of the Kurrajong Pub..... that, and the view, which
    BTW was totally non-existant yesterday.
    Yeah, it was good.
